If you painting wood, first sand the wood. There are a few reasons to do this. It gets any splinters removed and is also good for leaving the wood smooth , so that the paint will go on smoother.

We recently moved countries and I struggled with finding the motivation and energy to sort and edit our 10+ years of accumulated stuff.

What worked well for me was that I asked a friend to come and help and she really kept me motivated!

We would work for an hour then have a coffee (and a gossip!) and then work for another couple of hours and then have lunch etc. Even if you just need a good decluttering/editing session, this would be a great way to get started.

It’s a bit like losing weight – once you see the results of editing your clutter it really motivates you to continue! Now I am an advocate for keeping our possessions to a minimum – it’s really made such a difference to my life.

P.S – love the tip number 5 about being mindful – I think the world needs more recycling and repurposing.
