A corner window is an unusual feature in a room. Within a small space it can be difficult to know how to decorate the area. Should the window be a feature? Or do you gloss over it as an awkward focus and try to hide it?

Whichever room in your home that you have a corner window, you can learn how to maximize the look of your cute, unusual window.

Whether you live in a skyscraper apartment or a single-level house, there are plenty of cool ideas to make the most of a corner window.

If you have an apartment with a city view, you can leave window dressing minimal. Perhaps fix some inconspicuous blinds to shut out the world at night.

By day, place a mid century chair in the window corner. Not only will this give you a great vantage point to enjoy your surroundings but it’ll also draw attention to the corner. It’s worth making a statement of such an unusual feature as a corner window.

Room with a View

The chair in the corner window can be sleek and stylish or show off a more bohemian style, if that’s your preference.

If you’re a lover of all things retro and vintage, then select the perfect wood framed chair and drape a blanket just so and add comfy cushions.

A Moroccan footstool will add to the boho vibe. And to complete the look, have a backdrop of a shiny, large-leafed plant in a cool white plant pot. Keep window coverings minimal to zero for a crisp, modern look.

Window Seating in Your Beautiful Townhouse

You might think you should cover the view if your corner window faces out onto a wall or walkway.

In fact, this is an opportunity to make the most of the natural light. And so long as you have some pot plants or a focal point outside, this can be an expensive look.

With a gorgeous modern black metal frame you won’t need to add blinds or curtains to a downstairs corner window. Adding wood bench seating and some on-trend cushions will give the focus you want for your small space while being suitably practical.

Window Seat

To replicate the feel of a beachside home in the Hamptons, add white bench seats with storage. This is super handy for a small space.

If you are handy with a hammer and saw, you might like to make your own DIY window seat. This can be straightforward with some basic DIY skills.

Dress with gorgeous cushions in modern brights such as bold blue and fresh orange. A small table next to the seating will not only draw the eye to the space but also make the perfect spot to sit for breakfast or a cup of freshly roasted coffee. Divine.

Corner Reading Nook

Whoever said corner windows were awkward will need to think again! Providing a dual aspect outlook, they can add charm and character to any room.

If you have a wonderful view, maximize your windows and make them inviting to sit beside. A bespoke window seat and bookcase make the perfect reading nook. To keep the view at the heart of your design, decorate with soft neutrals and velvet touch fabrics.

Window Desk

In a small space you can make the most of your work area by putting a desk in your corner window. With a beautiful forest view, you will find working from home inspiring.

Keep dressings simple to enhance the view and select a beautiful natural wood desk to echo the tones of the trees outside.

Kitchen Shutters

A window by the kitchen sink is a great place for you to gaze out at your backyard or the world going by while you wash dishes and prepare food in the kitchen.

A shutter is traditional and looks gorgeous in a white kitchen. You have the best of both worlds, keeping your shutter open to let in natural light. Or if you have a little less privacy you can partially close them and have light while still being hidden.

Pretty Corner Kitchen Window

If you want to make the most of natural light then a pair of flimsy curtains at your corner kitchen window will do the job. A pretty country green check will look lovely hung from a slim curtain rod.

Some foliage and greener will enhance the area and draw the focus to your unusual corner window.

Fine Dining

If you have a corner window in a small living space and you’re unsure what to do, you can add some refinement to your scheme by hanging long floor to ceiling curtains to make for an elegant spot.

If you don’t have space to eat in your kitchen or you would like a place to drink a hot drink, then place a small table and dark wood chairs so you can dine while you look out on your view.

Bedroom Window Dressing

A bedroom window will also need privacy so you’ll need to hang curtains. For a strong effect when both open and closed, choose long curtains that drape to the floor.

A green wall color will pop with a pink geometric design curtain. And as long as your furniture is lower than the window sill you can make proper practical use of the space by adding furniture such as a chest of drawers in front of one window. Useful for a small space.

Draw attention to your corner window with gorgeous furniture, perhaps a spot to sit and drink a hot cup of coffee or your favorite tea. In the bedroom you’ll need a window dressing for privacy so hang long curtains to accentuate the space.
