Where to Put an Air Fryer in a Kitchen

By: Advaita Raut |

The air fryer is the newest kitchen appliance on the block and has seen sales soaring. Which is hardly surprising given that you can cook an entire meal quickly, cheaply and without oil.

In these days of rocketing prices it’s good to know you can keep the bills down and you can also look after your health.

But where in the kitchen is the best place for an air fryer? You may be concerned that it should work most effectively and not be somewhere that could have risks. Also, what is going to make your kitchen look good with your new fryer in place? Is there somewhere you can store it?

Take a look at some ideas to see if you can work out the best spot in your kitchen for your new air fryer.

Put Your Air Fryer on the Countertop

Put Your Air Fryer on the Countertop scaled

The first place you’d think of putting your air fryer is on the kitchen countertop. And this could well be the most suitable place as it is the right height, you should be able to find an outlet, and your kitchen countertop should be an appropriate surface for the heat.

As well as needing a heat resistant surface and ensuring that there is proper ventilation, a countertop will be super handy to get to. In all likelihood you’ll need it accessible as you’ll be using it a lot!

But Where on the Countertop?

Ideally you should place your air fryer 8 to 12 inches from the wall as this will make it more efficient. Having optimal space between the fryer and the wall can ensure that heat and expelled air can easily exit.

Why should you have the space from the wall? If there is not enough room between the air fryer and the wall, it can overheat. Not only will this reduce efficiency but it can be a major safety hazard. We certainly don’t want that!

For a standard-sized air fryer, keep it at least 8 inches away from the wall. This will also prevent any damage to the wall. Also ensure you don’t have anything that might easily catch fire nearby, in the same way you would make sure with your stove and oven.

Use a Table for Your Air Fryer

Not only should your air fryer be kept away from combustibles but you’ll also want to situate it away from water sources, so away from your sink, dishwasher etc.

Water could cause the appliance to short out, which might mean you get an electric shock. Also, you’ll need to ensure your fryer is not placed near dust or pet hair sources. Dust and pet hair can accumulate on the filter, clogging and potentially leading to a fire. So keep Fido out of the kitchen!

To keep your air fryer fully away from the wall with space for air to circulate, you might like to put it on its own freestanding table. Just ensure there are no trailing cables and that there are no trip hazards.

On a Kitchen Island

If you have an island then this really is the ideal place for your air fryer, especially if your island does not have an integrated sink or stove.

It will have plenty of space for air to circulate and you can prepare your food closeby on the countertop surface. And it’s easier to make up a plate. A truly handy spot for your air fryer.

Put Your Air Fryer on a Dresser

Your air fryers should not be kept in enclosed areas, for example a cabinet as you might do with a microwave, due to the risk of fire as the fryer could overheat.

But if you have a large dresser which has access to an outlet and a wide surface, then this could be a great spot to place your air fryer. It can also look neat when not in use.

A Place to Store Away Your Air Fryer

Let’s be clear, this is very much when your air fryer is not in use because it should never be left in an enclosed area. But when you’re not cooking it can go on a shelf on a storage cabinet.

This will look sleek in your kitchen and be easy to access so you don’t have to rummage about at the back of the cupboard to get to it!

A Pantry for Appliances and Your Air Fryer

If you have a pantry in your kitchen then this can be a great place to store your air fryer when not in use. If you place it on a shelf with other appliances it looks like a professional appliance showroom.

What’s to love about this is how easy it is to get any of your kitchen equipment and make full use of your air fryer.

In Summary

The best spot for your air fryer in your kitchen is on a surface that is heat resistant, away from  other heat sources, well away from the wall, close to an outlet without trailing cables and away from water.

Most likely this will be your kitchen countertop but other great places include an island or kitchen table, or a dresser with a deep surface for ventilation. Your air fryer can sit proud and shiny while being handily accessible.

When not in use you could store your air fryer on a kitchen shelf or in a pantry. The easier it is to get to, the more likely you are to use it. And you’ll want to do that when you can create cheap, delicious, no fuss food!
