Kitchen appliances seem like trinkets and charms for the kitchen.They upgrade the feel and look of our kitchens and some how, our cooking skills seem to improve too. Except the focus now is to improve the user experience, that means anything that makes the process of being in the kitchen along with cooking, easier and more fun. 

Here are 12 of the latest kitchen appliance trends you will find in many of the newly built homes.

As our eating patterns change, the kitchen is being used differently too. Some of these are expensive, some you may not like, but this list is handy if you are re-modelling your kitchen or planning to sell your home at some point in the future.  

1. Concealed Kitchen Appliances

Camouflaging your kitchen appliances is the first top trend. When you walk into an unfamiliar, new or updated kitchen, chances are you won't automatically know where the refrigerator is. That goes for the dishwasher and smaller kitchen appliances too.

Now you have to think about where they might be hiding. Previously they’d would all be in obvious site, like badges of honor according to brand or cost, so you couldn’t miss them. That has all changed.  

2. Warming Drawer / Slow Cooker Combinations

Kitchen appliances are doubling up and multi-tasking as we demand more of them. Warming drawers are right on trend and when you add slow cooker/ warming drawers you get the best of both worlds. This combination can be used as an oven, bread maker, and slow cooker in one integrated space. 

KitchenAid has one, and Viking announced the release of a brand new model but there are others coming on to the market all the time.

3. Black Appliances

White and basic stainless steel kitchen appliances have always been the benchmark but the latest hot trend is a kitchen with black appliances.

For many large companies like KitchenAid and GE, black kitchen product lines have broadened to include dishwashers, refrigerators, ice makers, wall ovens, hoods, wine cellars and beverage refrigerators.

4. Return to Freestanding Kitchen Ranges

For a long time the cooktop/wall oven was the best selling kitchen appliance combination. The trend is returning to the freestanding range.

5. Convection Ovens

With a seamless look, they are quickly overtaking freestanding and built-in microwaves. There are different models, sizes and shapes that can accommodate almost any kitchen.

7. Steam Ovens

Healthier eating habits are moving deep into the kitchen and while the steam oven is a niche item, installations are on the up.

Consuming organic and local produce foods and steaming them appeals to anyone who is looking for faster, easier and healthier ways to cook fish and vegetables on a regular basis.

Its not a substitute for a conventional oven but an add-on for a select growing niche market.

8. Freezer-on-Bottom Refrigerators

Refrigerators with the freezer-on-bottom are a huge hit, with sales for this style of refrigerator continuing to rise. There are a lot of different styles with smudge proof finishes being the most sought after.

9. Counter-Depth Refrigerators

Another trend for refrigerators is the growing interest in counter-depth refrigerators. This streamlined look is a real space-saver, as your fridge sits flush with both kitchen cabinetry and countertops. It helps the flow of your kitchen by freeing up space in the kitchen and making your kitchen feel bigger.
